- The RESEARCH PRESENTATION 1 - RESEARCH PROPOSAL AND ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY is an illustrated verbal presentation of work so far for the CRITICAL RESEARCH REPORT.
- The presentation should include an ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY.
- The presentation should include an RESEARCH PROPOSAL.
- The presentation should consider connections between academic research and studio practice.
- The presentation should include in-text citations and quotations from your secondary research.
- The presentation should include a BIBLIOGRAPHY for all reading and a REFERENCE LIST for in-text citations and quotations.
- The presentation should last 10-15 minutes with 1 slide every 2-3 minutes = 6-8 slides (not including BIBLIOGRAPHY and REFERENCES).

The presentation should follow this structure:
- The ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY should include reference details and personal summary of key texts.
- The RESEARCH PROPOSAL should outline your background reading and suggest a hypothesis (theoretical angle, question) to further pursue in research and writing.
- Relationship between academic research and studio practice. How does your research subject connect with your studio practice and/or how does the research process help your studio practice?
- The BIBLIOGRAPHY and REFERENCES (not included in the slide count) is separate to your ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY which appears as part of the presentation
The presentation should follow these presentation guidelines:
- PowerPoint (or equivalent) - 6-8 slides
- Large text: at least 32 point
- Avoid flashy graphics and animation - unless it is really particularly effective or relevant
- Print up the PowerPoint to assist your presentation

The learning outcomes which are important for the assessment of RESEARCH PRESENTATION 1 are:
- To self-manage ongoing independent academic research on subjects of personal interest within fashion and textiles.
- To show understanding of the relationship between academic research and studio practice.
- To show awareness of theoretical issues within fashion and textiles.
- To present research (secondary and original) in an academic form (written and verbal) conforming to academic conventions (Harvard reference system).
- To show analysis and evaluation of research.

- Theoretical issues relevant to subject - development of theoretical perspective
- Comprehension (analysis and evaluation) - critical awareness of key texts and issues
- Referencing and presentation - Harvard referencing and verbal presentation
