"A boss at the BBC once told me that I was too glamorous and pointed to my high-heeled boots," Logan told Radio Times. "I said: 'I've just come from a radio show, it's what I wear'. He said: 'You don't wear them when you do the dishes, do you?'"
Logan said: "Does he want me to look like I'm doing the dishes? I'm not here to look like a housewife." (Plunkett, 2013).

Last week The Apprentice ... was won by Leah Totton, a woman who wants to open a chain of Botox clinics; ... it is also worth noting that it was the first all-female final in three years and that the other finalist, Luisa Zissman, was selling another socially acceptable and officially sanctioned female obsession, baked goods. (Gold, 2013). Most academics would agree that the guiding values for peer review should include objectivity, balance and fairness, leading to measured, constructive, critical discourse. the way Sears – and Scherzinger, and the Duchess of Cambridge, and any other woman who is somehow affiliated to a high-profile man – is still discussed is a reminder that there remains a long way to go. But how could it be any more obvious that we still live in a patriarchal world when feminism is a bad word?" she asks in her quiet voice that belies the firm opinions it is often expressing. "Feminism always gets associated with being a radical movement – good. It should be. A lot of what the radical feminists [in the 1970s] were saying, I don't disagree with it." (Freeman, 2013a). |
